Timmy is a very happy boy currently living in foster care. He likes to be held and enjoys going outside to play. When he's outside, he likes to watch walking people. At 2 years and 1 month of age, he could call baba and nana. At that time, he was sent to the hospital to repair his CHD. After the surgery, he became more active. At 2 years and 3 months of age, he could walk with one hand held, could hold a spoon to eat, and could dance to the music. He liked to draw. At 2 years and 5 months of age, he liked pretty clothes, would greet acquaintances, and could wave goodbye to people. At 2 years and 7 months of age, he got along well with people, liked cartoons, singing, and dancing. He had a strong imitating ability and he liked to play with other children. At 2 years and 9 months of age, Timmy could imitate adult,,¦¾šs motions and could walk independently. He could also speak simple words. At 3 years old, Timmy can run, knows many things and remembers them. He calls older men ,,¦¦Ågrandpa," younger men ,,¦¦Åbaba,,,š and little boys ,,¦¦Åbrother." Timmy is extroverted, a little impatient, and relentless. He likes music and singing and can hum with the music. Timmy likes to play with toys and has a quick reaction. He likes to play with other children and when he is outside, he sometimes clings to the adults and wants to be held. Just like any other three year old, he likes others toys, but does not like other children to take his toys.

Advocacy: Craig

Precious little Craig is 26 months old. His file was recently prepared and he is waiting for a family in China. He is a LID file, so his family will need to have their dossier logged in or be very close to it! At 20 months of age, Craig was given a neuro-psychological development inventory test. This test suggested that he receive some early intervention and is what gave him the diagnosis of delayed neuro-psychological development. Craig is active, outgoing, clever and cute. He can get along well with other children. He likes playing with toys and playing interaction games with acquaintances. He is fine with people who are familiar to him, but scared of strangers initially.

Craig was abandoned as a newborn. At the age of 1 year and 6 months, after receiving some rehabilitation, Craig could go from sitting alone to the standing position and he could walk without help. He could also go upstairs or up a slope with support. At that time, he was speaking simple words. At the age of 1 year and 8 months, he was sent to live with a foster family. His self-awareness gradually increased and he was willing to hold his spoon and he tries new methods to play with toys. At that time he could imitate adults to do some simple things. He could push or drag toys when he was walking, sit on the rocking wooden horse or rocking chair, and could speak some simple words, but his intelligence and motor development was still slightly delayed compared to other children his age. His home orphanage reports that he is an adorable child and they hope that he will have a happy and wonderful home soon. Craig is listed with Madison Adoption Associates via an orphanage partnership. His file is not transferable at this time.

If you are interested in learning more about Craig or transferring your dossier to Madison to adopt Craig, please fill out a free PAP Waiting Child review form, which can be found here: https://madison.mysamdb.com/SAM/Fm/Fm_Ap_Form_Edt.aspx

Advocacy: Leona

Photo: Look at lovely 11.5 year old, Leona! It seems unbelievable to think that she came into care as an infant and is still waiting for a family. Leona is listed with Madison Adoption Associates and is diagnosed as having tested positive for syphilis as an infant. From an update received this month: She is in grade four now and her academic performance is fair. She can finish homework in time. She likes playing with friends at school. She likes badminton and running. She likes snacks. Her mental and language development are normal. Leona is doing very well, and syphilis didn't exert any impact on her development. She received medical treatment soon after she was accepted by the orphanage. Now she is living in the orphanage and goes to school every day. She receives regular education at a normal school.

Advocacy: Logan

2 year old Logan is waiting for a family in China. He is listed with Madison Adoption Associates via an orphanage partnership.,  Logan is diagnosed with alpha thalassemia but his file notes that he receives regular transfusions, which is not typical of kids with alpha thalassemia. Madison asked for clarification from the orphanage because of his file mentioning weekly transfusions. He does have a gene test in his file noting alpha thalassemia.,  Alpha thalassemia patients are typically not transfused, but there are many variations.,  The orphanage did say that he receives monthly transfusions (not weekly) so there must have been a translation error., ,  A family will need to be open to the fact that he very well may need monthly transfusions.,  But, he may just need to have his spleen removed and end up not needing transfusions ever or only when he is ill.,  Someone may need to take a bit of a leap of faith, but it will certainly be worth it!

Here are some great resources for thalassemia: www.choosingthalassemia.blogspot.com, ,  http://specialneedsadoption.rainbowkids.com/Thalassemia.aspx

Logan lives with a foster family. Now he can speak some words, such as ,,¦¦Åbaba, mama, apo, gege.”,  He can understand facial expressions.,  He is cute at home if mom is at home and busy with housework. He does not tell mom if desiring to eat, because he is afraid of being criticized. But he will show the kindness if dad comes home after work, will help pick the cup to drink water. Then he will ask dad to find the snack for him. He is smart and cute. He likes playing with kids, but will sometimes take toys away from the other kids. He likes interacting with visitors who come to his home.,  He can,  speak ,,¦¦Åyiyi,aa,,š to the visitors, and also can say ,,¦¦Ågoodbye,,š if they leave. He likes playing with toy blocks. He has a good appetite and is not a choosy eater.,  Fruit is his favorite food.,  If the foster mom picks fruit, he will move the stool for her and also catch the trash can. Sometimes he is naughty and he always find the snacks. Logan enjoys baths and his favorite thing to do is to play outdoors with his foster parents and foster brother.

For more information on Logan, please fill out a free PAP Waiting Child Review Form, which can be found here: https://madison.mysamdb.com/SAM/Fm/Fm_Ap_Form_Edt.aspx

We also have many families that have adopted children with Thalassemia and they are willing to talk with serious prospective parents about this special need in depth.
